4th of July

We had a great 4th of July on Leech Lake with the Bergers. We also celebrated Chase and Owen's first birthday by opening gifts, wearing hats and having cake. It was fun to celebrate with Jeff's family. We all wore hats and looked silly which is how it should be at a first birthday party! :) Chase and Owen had fun opening their gifts and then exploring how to play with them all. I think Owen's favorite was the replacement lovey he got (in case he loses the one he had). Chase liked the balls from the gumball machine.

There was a May fly epidemic and the flies were hatching and dying left and right. This created quite the problem as the water was coated with them and they were on the grass, trees and house. There is a picture in here of the house coated with them. We had lots of fun playing on the lawn, getting wet in the water and digging in the sand. BOTH Chase and Owen tore towards the water and I had a hard time keeping them out of it. I did take them in and let them wade up to their necks. They LOVED it! We went for 2 boat rides, went to the 4th of July parade in Walker and saw Jeff's Grandma as well. It was lots of fun and the weather was perfect!

Owen enjoyed exploring the sand. He had such a great time in the water, I couldn't keep him out of it! He loved to walk in up to his neck and would have gone farther had I not been holding on to him!
