Our 4th Birthday Party - Part 1

Chase and Owen turned 4 on Sunday July 1st!  We had their birthday party on Saturday the 30th, which just happens to be my mom's birthday!  It was a great day.  Boy were they excited!  By the time the party started at 10:00 I think they were a little tired already and a bit overwhelmed by all the people and excitement!

My parents came up a few days early to help and play with the boys.  The day of the party was beautiful and hot!  (It was soooo hot in the days to follow too-above 100 degrees!)  Chase and Owen opened a gift from Aunt Kate and Uncle Lane and got huge Tonka trucks! They loved them and zoomed all over the house.

They opened gifts from Nana and Papa Anderson too.  Owen reads his cute card and sees the big "4" on it.
Nana helps Chase read his card.

Chase opens his present and finds . . .
an Iowa State piggy bank with coins in it!
Owen is happy too!  Now they can spend the money on whatever they want!  How great.  (Days later they bought Thomas the Train engines)
Saying thanks!
After the excitement of opening gifts we moved on to getting ready to celebrate!

My 4 year old loves.

We had a construction themed party and all things revolved around that.  I got some great ideas from Etsy and made some cute favors for the kids.  Each guest got their own "Tool Box" . . .

. . . and they got to fill it up with "Sweet Tools."
Truck cookies . . .
nuts and bolts . . .

                                                               and a few spare tires . . .

The kids were soooo good!  Everyone played the games and had fun doing it.  Owen was a little overwhelmed and thought I was mad at him . . . so he hid under the desk in the office.  He came out out with me and joined the fun soon after.  Our games were fun and truck related for the most part. The kids had to pick up all the balls and sort them according to color.  They they had to pick their favorite color and race to the other side of the lawn to put it in a container. The last game was the water balloon/truck game.  They raced down the lawn with the trucks, filled them up with water balloons, raced back and tagged their team member.  When we got all the balloons we had a water balloon fight.  The kids loved it! I got hit a couple times by my own children! :)

More to come!
