A Grand Weekend

Last weekend, August 1-2, was a grand weekend here. We celebrated the boys dedication at church and their 1st birthday-part 2. It was my dream to have both our families together for a big 1st birthday for Chase and Owen. So, despite the fact we had several other celebrations prior to this one, we had this 1st birthday party with everyone! It was GREAT! There are so many pictures and memories. My parents came from SD, Jeff's parents from Waconia, My sister, Kate, and her new husband, Lane, flew in from Denver for the weekend, which was wonderful. Jeff's brother, Patrick, sister-in-law, Lindsay, and niece Sophia from Eagan, my two cousins came with their kids and my best friend and her family came to town after their family reunion and then flew back to VA. WOW! It was great.

Saturday we spent the entire day in the kitchen chopping and preparing food. The babies played with or around us and the men were out on the deck constructing away. We celebrated Lane's birthday with a steak dinner and pie.

Sunday we had Chase and Owen's dedication at Westwood Church. It was a beautiful day and the dedication went well with the boys being cute. Chase would not go to the pastor, but Owen did. This is opposite of what usually happens. Chase grabbed my nose after the prayer for Owen and got a laugh out of the congregation. It was so nice having family and many friends share in this special time for us to dedicate our children to the Lord publicly.

We came home after that and Chase and Owen went right to bed. They were soooo tired. We had lunch and when the boys woke up we had cake. It was fun to see them look at the candles and then eat the ears off the special monkey cake I baked for them. They ate the cake, but didn't smear much on their faces. It was fun.

Later that day we played in the pool with Ela and Addy Bjork. Ela is 4 1/2 and Addy will turn 1 on the 10th of August. Can you tell who is who in the pool? It looks like there are triplets! It was fun to watch the kids interact and splash around.
