Life in July

We try to spend as much time outside as possible. Hattie brings her babies out and her stroller.  The boys are eating popsicles on the steps. :)

Beach Treats

We spent many summer days at Lake Minnetonka Regional Park, which is my favorite for so many reasons.  The kids loved the beach and loved the treats even more!  It's too bad the Superman Popsicles stain so badly!  Hattie's shirt was never the same. :(  I bought her a cute popsicle but she did NOT want it. She wanted Super Man just like the boys!  She also peed her pants all over the place . . . . potty training at the beach didn't go so well.  Good thing I had lots of towels to soak up the pee! :)

Hattie thinks it doesn't get any better than this!  Look at the messy smile!!  Love her!

Trolley Ride

In July I took the kids to Excelsior to ride the Trolley there.  They LOVED it!  It was just a beautiful day and they were so excited to look at the cars in the lot of the body shop and then on to the trolley. The boys have ridden on the trolley before, but Hattie had not.  She was so excited and so good and quiet.  She didn't make a peep and sat so still. The volunteers who ran the trolley were so amazing!  They welcomed each child on to the trolley, asked them their name and taught them how to ring the bell by stepping on a button on the floor.  All 3 kids tried it out and were thrilled!  We rode down to the Trolley work shop and got off to see some trolleys that were being worked on.  We rode back and then went to get ice cream at Licks, which was just as fun as the trolley ride!
I just love this picture.  The kids look so little and innocent.

Hattie wanted to sit right in this spot the whole time, just like this.  She felt like a big girl.  Even when we were moving she didn't want to look out the window, I think she was a little scared.

Hattie is ready to go!

Dancing To Let It Go

Last night we introduced Hattie to "Frozen" and I'm not sure she was into it as much as the boys were.  I looked up and saw them copying all the moves the character did on TV.  It was so funny and cute! They are quite the performers!

Nightly Routine

Our nightly routine goes something like this.

I think in my head, "We will start getting the kids ready for bed at 7:00".
7:15 rolls around and we are still outside playing.
We come inside and the boys want a snack.
7:25 we head upstairs to start getting jammies on.

I head to Hattie's room and while I'm opening her jammie drawer she runs to her closet and then says, "two three" and runs as fast as she can to her chair and crashes into it with her tummy, laughing.

I then ask her to pick out her jammies. She runs around the room.  I ask her to pick out her jammies. She continues to run around the room.  I pick her up and start taking her clothes off. She cries and I put her down and let her take her own clothes off and put on her own jammies.

It's 7:45.

It's time to brush teeth.  We brush teeth and Hattie tries to use the boys' toothbrushes.  After brushing teeth we go to her room.  She then asks for kisses from Chase and Owen and Daddy.  We get kisses. We come back and I tell her we are reading 2 books.

I sit in the chair and she runs around trying to find a "boo" she wants.  She picks out 12.  Brings them all to me and throws them in my lap. She hops on my lap, or tells me to "oot" scoot over so she can sit in the chair beside me.  We read 2 books.  Then she says, "One more boo" which sounds very much like "Elmo book".  So we read another book.  Then another.

8:00.  I stand up and walk to her crib.  She cries for "One more boo".  Hattie lays on the floor pretending to be sleeping, rolling around, reading a book, changing the diaper on her baby.  I put 10 books in her crib with her 4 babies and 10 stuffed animals and pick her up to put her in the bed.

I lay her in her bed and she kicks her legs over and over
-asks for kisses,
-asks to be covered
-doesn't want to be covered
-wants light on
more kisses

I leave. She yells.  I try to ignore.  Finally she goes to sleep. I head into Chase and Owen's room, usually too late to read to them.  They are waiting for me to "Sing to me and scratch my back".  :)  We cuddle and talk and pray and then it's lights out!
