Hattie's 1st Birthday Party

Hattie turned 1 on June 20th and we had her birthday party on the 21st.  It was a wonderful night remembering her birth and what had occurred just one year before!  Hattie had a "pink" themed party.  I had seen a cake in a magazine and knew what I wanted to make.  It was fun to decorate and the cake turned out just like I wanted.  We had other pink decorations throughout the house and she wore a pink dress.  We had lunch and cake.  We were fortunate to have both sets of Grandparents, Pat and Sophie, Gavin and Greyson, Kelly Harris and kids, Kelly Soderstrom and Hailey at her party.

 When putting Hattie's hat on I was so careful but still snapped her a little bit and she cried.  Poor thing.  She was overwhelmed by all the people too.

 Hattie was excited to see her cake and try the frosting which she had tried earlier in the day.

 Daddy took some of the cake away and it made her upset, or embarrassed or something and she cried and cried and cried.

 Chase and Owen came and sat down right away and knew to sit back. It was so cute.  Pretty soon the kids started crowding though. :)

 Hattie got a big pink puppy from Bergers and she just loved it!  She hugged and kissed it right away.

6 Year Olds!

The time flies, doesn't it!! My big boys are 6 years old today.  Not 5 and 1/2 but 6!  They are so proud and were excited to tell everyone they were 6.  So sweet.  Owen asked me if he looked bigger today, Chase said he was so excited he was 6.  He then talked about all his friends who are 6, or 5, or 10. :)  It's neat they are understanding age and how being older is different.  Happy Birthday my sweet loves, couldn't be happier to be your mommy than I was when you were born 6 years ago!

The day started early with Chase waking me at 5:45 telling me it was his birthday. :)  He crawled into bed with us and cuddled.  We woke up and went downstairs where he saw how I had decorated and the presents.  We waited for Owen to wake up and once he did he was excited about the decorations too.  They opened their presents bright and early and were so excited with the Pokemon cards, goggles, Skylanders swimtrunks and SpyGear night vision goggles! :)  Their friends Nolan and Cole came over to play at 10:00 and we had lunch and cake. Then we had swimming lessons.  Luckily the rain that had been happening off and on all day subsided for their lesson.  We got home, waited for Daddy and then went to Tommy's for dinner and a sundae.  What a great birthday for my boys!!!

Chase and Owen have grown so much in the past year.  They are taller, faster, smarter and cuter. :)  They can read, do basic math, talk ALOT and enjoy singing, telling jokes, doing magic tricks and making others laugh.  They still tend to be pretty shy around people they don't know well.  We are working on basic manners such as looking at people when they talk to you and saying hi.  They are both caring, compassionate and look out for each other, their friends and Hattie.  They can be assertive with each other, but not with friends or kids bigger than them.  We have to tell them it's ok to say "no" and "don't do that".  They love Jesus and love to talk about him and what heaven will be like.  They are asserting so much more independence and just love to play outside.  They can get ready all by themselves when they want to and enjoy helping with then want to.
