costumes

Owen smiles really big because he got a new dragon costume!
One night we dressed up in costumes and ran around Chase's room like crazy.  The boys love to dress up and have a tail and play the part of the animal they are dressed like.  Owen runs like a cheetah.
Little boys love to hug, here Chase-the bee-hugs Owen.

Owen hugs Chase and smiles brightly
I put some of my old nylons on Chase to see if this could function as a Halloween costume.  He looks pretty cute with his little legs all black.
Next it was Owen's turn to wear the nylons.
Look at Owen's little stinger and little legs.

Walker

September 29th-Oct. 2nd we spent some time up North at Nana and Papa Berger's house on Leech Lake.  Jeff took the boys up on Thursday afternoon and I joined them Friday night.  It was beautiful weather and we collected lots of sea shells on the beach.  Chase couldn't get enough.  He wanted to put more and more into his bag.  Owen had enough of the sea shell collected after he got about 20.  We went to Walker and shopped around.  We spent time together just "being", which isn't always easy to do when you are used to go go going all the time.

I was still sick this weekend so sleeping was a bit of a challenge.  I would cough uncontrollably at night.  I ended up in the game room upstairs, propped up against the wall.  At 2:30 am the boys woke up and wanted to get out of bed.  I brought them in with me, so there we were, the 3 of us, sleeping on the floor until about 6 that morning.  Owen was snoring away because of the cold he had too.

Chase lays out his big find-lots and lots of sea shells.  He loved them!

The boys created a slide in the sand and had fun playing on it.

Jeff helped his dad out with the boat and a few other things around the house.  He also "helped" them try to hook up an antenna to get better TV reception.  It didn't really work.

Keeping Track

Since I use my blog as a record keeping tool and make it into a book at the end of the year, I like to post little things that are just for me.  I'm sure a couple people out there (Nanas and Papas) enjoy hearing the funny tidbits. :)

Chase and Owen were listening to the ABC song tonight on the iPad.  They haven't been kids to really be into singing, mostly because of their lack of words, but tonight for the first time I heard them singing along. At first it was just saying a couple letters, then Chase was singing the last 5 letters and "Next time won't you sing with me."  Then a few songs later I hear Owen staring with A and he went through most of the alphabet, even the hard letters, "L M N O P" and sang the last part of the song too.  My eyes filled with tears at the wonderful language progress we've made over the past 6 months.  This is a big step for C & O!

Two days ago I we were getting ready for school and Chase was talking about something and said, "My bruduh". I thought he said "brother," but since he had never said it before I wasn't sure.  So I asked, and sure enough he said, "brother."  So now I hear, "My bruduh" all the time, when Owen is doing what Chase wants and when he isn't doing what he wants.

Yesterday at daycare Chase had a hard time with the drop off. I could see him standing at the door with his head down and a small pout and puppy eyes.  I texted daycare to see how he was doing and I guess Owen had come up to Chase and put his arm around Chase and said, "it's ok."  So sweet.

Last night Chase said to Jeff, "No leave me." when Jeff was putting him to sleep.  Broke Jeff's heart and he spent 15 more minutes rocking him.

Tonight we were counting trucks while reading a book.  We got to 9 and I said, "Owen what's next?"  He stated "10"  I was proud.  Chase knew that 6 came after 5.  Just the fact they know the words and can say them is awesome! I'm so proud.

I love those boys.

Camping Part 2-The Fort

So, like I said in the previous post, Shannon and I built this wonderful stick fort in the woods for the boys.  Owen was there as Squeaky the Squirrel.  We had so much fun hunting for big sticks, breaking them into smaller pieces and placing them just right.  Abby, Isaac and Chase joined us a bit later to play.  Isaac thought it needed another room, so we added on on. We called it the lean-to.  It was a fun adventure.

Mike talked to the boys under the canopy of sticks
