"This" and Owen Finds a Caterpillar

"This" is the boys' favorite word these days.  We must have said it a lot for them to pick up on it. In fact, I know I do.  When they point at something I say, "You want this?"  Wonderful vocabulary building strategies are used at our home. :)

So, when the boys want something they point at it and say, "This."

The other night Chase was playing on a skateboard with Jeff.  We were at the neighbors and it was time to go home.  I picked up Chase and he waved at the skateboard and said, "Bye this."  I had to laugh and laugh and am laughing right now.

Not only are they not using vocabulary correctly, they are also not using their /s/ correctly. It is a major frontal lisp.  Every speech therapist's nightmare!
Owen is amazed at his find-a fuzzy caterpillar!  He has to get down as close as he can to the caterpillar.
Hi Mr. Caterpillar.

Oh Mom, I just love nature!

Memorial Day 2010 Take 3-Sleepy Time

Because the boys got up at 4:30 a.m. they were tired around 10:30.  Grandma Sandy took the boys into her bedroom to watch Animal Planet.  They all loved seeing the animals and sure enough, Owen fell asleep.  Chase went upstairs to his bed for his nap.  How sweet!  On Saturday we took a boat ride and the boys loved helping Grandpa drive the boat.  They got to see Grandpa's minnows and stick their hands in the container.  They also got to see Grandpa's gross leaches.  They really wanted to touch those, but Mommy was a little nervous.  Chase and Owen figured out how to get out of the house by themselves.  The screen door was easy to open but it did hit them on the butt as it shut!  We went to town on Sunday to have pizza and walk around.  The boys got to have a big dish of ice cream and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Sesame Street stickers are a favorite. I got a pack in the dollar section at Target and they have proven to be a hit.  Here Owen looks down at the pile of stickers he has.
Chase wishes he had more stickers.

This was Monday, the day we left. It was a little cool so I dressed the boys in jeans. Then they decided to play in the sand and got all dirty.

Chase had quite the adventure this trip-he got run over by dogs and got his first blister on his pointer finger from grabbing a hot light bulb.

This was last year on Memorial Day.  Look at those baldies!  Not even standing!

Memorial Day 2010 Take 1

We took the boys to Leech Lake for the Memorial Day weekend.  We had a lot of fun at Grandma and Grandpa's house.  In true Owen and Chase style, they invaded the house and created a big mess. They explored every room as soon as they got there, opened every drawer and dumped out whatever they could find to dump.  It was a beautiful Saturday, in the 90's.  We played outside most of the day.  The Goofy Golf game was a favorite. It was amazing how this little game could keep the attention of my 1.92 year olds for so long. They would take the balls off, put them back on, fight over them, stick their heads through the hanging ones, etc.  When we first arrived the neighbors two 1 year old labs ran down Chase.  They nipped at his head and let me tell you, Jeff and I were on that situation pretty quickly.  The dogs didn't come near us the rest of the weekend.
