Hattie Eats and Likes it!

Since I first posted Hattie's first eating experience things haven't gone so well.  She didn't like eating, wouldn't open her mouth and I was getting worried.  Three days ago I plopped her in her high chair and tried a new pouch of food-apricots and sweet potatoes.  She opened right up for bite after bite and ate about 2 TBSP.  I was shocked. Who was this kid?  She did it the next day and the next!  I'm so happy she's finally eating and enjoying it.

Freezing

I wouldn't even say it's been "freezing" here because that would be 32 degrees.  What word means more than freezing.  Hmmmm, arctic?  That's probably a good word.  It's been very very very "arctic" here. -38 degrees with the windchill arctic.  Can't go outside or to school arctic.

In fact, in the 12 years I've taught in MN school has only been cancelled 3-4 times.  Until this year.  We've had school cancelled 5 days because it's too cold for students to wait outside for the bus.  WOW!

Hattie's First TIme Swimming

Over Christmas break on the one day when no one was sick, we took the kids swimming and had a blast.  Hattie hadn't been in a deep pool and she liked it. She was pretty distracted by all the sounds and sights.  I don't think I really got a smile out of her, but she didn't cry.  The air was so warm but the water wasn't and her little chin began to quiver.  :)

Chase and Owen had a blast, specifically Chase.  He was a swimming fool.  They both went down the water slide and just had fun.

This was right before her head went under-oops

Swimming wore Hattie out and she snuggled in on my shoulder.  I went back in to play with the boys and Jeff held Hattie.  She was nodding off as he held her.
Chase had so much fun going under the water and when he came up he always looked like this. :)

Happy 7 Months

Hattie is calm and a very happy baby.  She is content most of the time.  She can go long periods of time without eating and doesn't even get very fussy.  The only thing she requires if not eating is to be held.

She can sit up on her own but does fall down every now and then.

She loves "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and the minute I start singing it her hands go to her neck and mouth to protect herself from my tickles.

Hattie's favorite toys are paper, Daddy's packs of gum, socks, slinky, peanut butter spreader, green teether, lids and anything she's not supposed to have.

When nursing she moves her arm all over feeling whatever she can.  She puts her blankey on her face. She holds her own bottle when getting one.

She's a very loud talker and grunts and makes loud noises a lot.  She can do raspberrie, clicks, sucks her lips, making a smacking sound.  Today she said "baba" for the first time.

She can transition items from hand to hand and bang items together.

"Oh look, I'm wearing a sticker!"
"I think I'll eat the sticker!"

She sits independently and is starting to pull her legs under her body and sleep with her little bottom in the air.

She picks her arms up when she wants to be picked up.

Hattie naps in her crib and has since Christmas.  We got rid of her swing because she is so strong she almost bucks herself out.

Chase says, "I love love love Hattie's face and her little cute legs."

Owen said, "Hattie's the cutest in our family."  I said, "She's the cutest girl", he responded, "but she's cuter than me."  :)

Loves bath time and kicks and giggles when she hears the water.

My birthday

I had a really great birthday this year.  As it got closer I would say, It's only *** many days until my birthday" and the boys would get more and more excited.  One day before my birthday Chase asked if all my friends were going to come over.  It was so innocent and sweet it made me want to have all my friends over. Then I thought, why shouldn't all my friends come over, what fun that would be!

As I was tucking Owen in on my birthday he said, "You didn't get very many presents!"  What an observation.  At a young age isn't that what it's all about?! Then I started to list off what I had gotten and he was pretty impressed (most of it was not tangible).

To then, a birthday is cake and presents.  They were so excited to come home and eat cake and just wanted to sing happy birthday to me.  I just loved it.  They made me the most special bracelets. I gave them full access to all my old beading beads and they each took their time making bracelets. It wasn't the easiest thing and Owen needed to take a break.  Chase pushed through though and succeeded in getting almost one of every bead on the bracelet.
