Chase and Owen each have their own quirks, which I love. Here are a few I was thinking about today.

Chase has to have 2 or more blankies, one is not enough.  If you give him only 1 he will ask for "more", which sounds like "mow".

Chase loves to give kisses and rub noses lovingly.

Owen loves to dig in my purse and look for treasures.  Sometimes he likes to pull all the gum out of the container, other times he likes to find lip gloss to pretend to put on, other times he finds "treats" I stash for moments of possible breakdowns (such as eating out).

Chase and Owen both love shoes and search their closet to find the shoes I've stashed that are too big.

Owen likes to have his blankey in his mouth while he holds it, or just carries it in his mouth.

Chase likes to feel the little nubs the blankey has and picks at them while he sucks his thumb.

Owen likes to eat while wearing my bike helmet-just in case something dangerous should come at his head.

Chase calls me Mommy, Owen-Mama.  I always know who is calling (I can tell from their voices too).

Chase wakes at 5:30 am on the dot.  Owen wakes between 6:30 and 6:45 lately.

Owen is a good listener and a good sharer.

Owen goes right to bed and loves it!  He snuggles in and is content.  Chase sometimes likes a little more attention and will call for us to come read some more.  This doesn't happen often, he really loves his bed too.

Owen can crawl into his or Chase's crib, but hasn't crawled out yet.

Chase likes to show strangers his toys, blankey, owies, etc.

The boys call each other "Da" or "Dada".

Chase jumps all the time, from stairs, from chairs, onto things, just jumps in the air and falls on his bottom.

Owen is cautious about taking steps from things.

Owen is not afraid of the water and is very good at kicking and swimming up to his chin.
(Owen's little butt crack)

They both love bugs and we use bugs as a way to lure them home if they've taken off down the side walk.  "Hey look!  A bug!"   Works every time.

Chase has gone potty in the big boy potty.

Owen and Chase playing in the sink

They like to play in the garage with the garage doors closed.

Owen has escaped out the garage when the door has been left open-yikes.

Owen thinks a group of balloons is "brote" (his word for broken).  He thinks they should be single.

Chase likes me to call him Honey Bunny.

Owen likes to be called my Little Monkey.

Owen swings his right arm when he runs.

Chase swings his legs out when he runs.

They are both funny and adorable boys! :)

A Sign?

This is what I saw this morning when I cracked my egg for breakfast.  2 yokes.  God was telling me my babies were going to be ok-in His hands, as they headed off to daycare, and I to work.

It was an ok day.  The boys ran into daycare, were talking about the puppies they love even before getting to the house-how do they remember?

The boys napped in sleeping bags on the floor rather than pack-n-plays and it made me sad to think of how they are growing up.

Chase even told Jeff about his day!  A first for us.  Jeff asked him how his day was at Kelly's and Chase said, "puppy" and then meowed and did the sign for "kitty".  They have puppies and kitties at Kelly's.  That made me smile.

Videos from the Fair

The video of Chase is of him on the Merry Go Round.  Listen to the end when he lets out a big laugh.
This video is of Owen and I feeding the Brahman cow.  He was so brave and loved it when the cow licked his hand.

The Countdown

T minus 3 days.

That is, until school begins for me.  Last year at this time I was an utter mess.  Such a mess I didn't blog about going back to work.   This year it's a little different.  I know I'm not losing my boys, they will still be mine, I will still have precious times with them and they will still love me as always.

We've had a wonderful summer.  I've done so many things on my "To Do" list and feel content knowing I provided new and exciting adventures for Chase and Owen, as well as having nice quite times at home to play and cuddle.

I'm not looking forward to waking up earlier, to showering right away, to doing my hair and coordinating outfits and jewelry, to getting the kids dressed before 9 am, to hopping in the car at 7:15 am, but it's what the Lord has in store for me so I will do it.

School begins but mothering does not end.  Thank the Lord!

The boys are tromping around in their shoes-size 8 shoes, they wear a size 6.5.  Owen is in winter snow boots, Chase in these fat soled tennies.  It's a funny picture.  They are in their jammies still.  Owen just said, "Where are my cars?"  I told him they were in his room, so with determination he sets off toward his room for his cars.  Then suddenly I hear them crawling along the floor.  They are pretending to be babies.  Short attention spans.  This is a small snapshot of our day.

Fair Time

Owen is a little unsure of the camel.
Grandpa helps Chase feed the horse.
Grandma talks to Owen about the cow.
Daddy feeds the horse.
My two fair goers
Owen was a little nervous and he just had a bad bout of allergies, his poor eyes were all blotchy and red.
Chase reaches for a sheep
Watching the horses run

We watched people race their horses and the boys and Sophie found the fence.  It was so much fun to step up and step down, over and over.  Got some cute pics too.

A Riveting Game of Hide & Seek

Chase and Owen hid from me in an impromptu game of hide & seek.
They were very difficult to find!
I was laughing so hard I barely made it to my camera in time.

Lately it's been so stinkin hot and humid we don't know what to do with ourselves. (notice the blurry picture from a fogged up lens?)

So, we take off our pants and have a smoothie. . .
We paint on the deck. . .
We snuggle on the couch . . .
We stand on the train table. . .
We color inside . . .

And we play in the baby bathtub!

Activia Commercial

We were eating dinner one night when I started singing the Activia commercial.  Owen took to it and added his own bit at the end. It was so funny!  Now he and Chase will sing along just like this video whenever I sing the song.
This video is of Chase doing butt bombs in the ball pit.  He's quite good at them!

Time with Family

It was this little guy's baptism a few weeks ago.  Gavin is our nephew and just a cutie.

Daddy and Owen cuddle
Daddy and Chase say a prayer.

Sophie, Owen and Chase had fun playing and goofing off.

On The Farm

Owen is trying to pet the kitty.
I love this picture of them both crouching down to see the kitty eat.  So precious.
Owen loved to watch the kitty eat.  He pushed the food over so it could eat more.
Chasey picks an apple
Owen and Chase pick apples off the tree
Owen finds the old marble game and seriously played it for at least 45 minutes, never moving from this cute little position.  When he got up his knees hurt him.
Chase and Owen are on the hunt for the kitty-they chased him all over the yard.

Photo Shoot Part 2

I couldn't wait to share these wonderful pictures with you!  Our great photographer, Mindy with Hope Feathers Photography, did a terrific job.  She had so much fun editing that she edited them all last night.  I was so happy to see them because she had told me it was going to be a few weeks.  To see the complete photo set that she posted on her blog, go to www.hopefeathersphotoblog.com.  She also provides some commentary about the photo shoot.
I hope you enjoy the pics as much as I do.  I was teary eyed, shivering and just loving the pictures as I saw them for the first time.  They are exactly what I wanted and the style I love.  Thank you Mindy for the great experience and priceless photos to cherish forever.  They capture the true essence of each of my loves.
Two worms were found on the sidewalk and it couldn't have been more perfect!
Do you see the worm on Chase's arm?
